Balakumaran (1946–2018) was one of Tamil's most prolific storytellers. He wrote over 200 novels. He also wrote the screen dialogues for Nayakan.

About Balakumaran

He was born in Thanjavur district. He wrote more than 200 novels and 100 short stories. He began with Mercury Pookkal and Irumbu Kudhirai. He gave a voice to ordinary people.

In cinema he wrote dialogue for Nayakan, Guna and Baashha. He wrote for Kalki, Ananda Vikatan and Kumudam for decades.
